The results of investigation of lichens flora in the town of Prokuplje (Serbia) are presented in this paper. The presence of 14 genera and 30 species of lichens is established for the area. The analyzed taxa belong to the all groups of morphological types of lichen thall. Because of their specific characteristics lichens are very good indicators of air pollutions. On the basis of their distribution, Prokuplje is divided in three zones: lichen desert zone, struggle zone and normal zone. A comparative analysis has established that 20% of the total of epiphytic lichens taxa found in the investigation from 1995 and 2005 was recorded on both occasions.
