In this article a discussion of energetic, exergetic and environmental aspects of thin-layer drying of corn process is presented. Some theoretical and practical issues of energy nad exergy efficiencies and discussions of the relations between energy, exergy and the environment are presented. It is pointed that exergy is a suitable approach for achieving the goal of more efficient energy-resources use and a way to determine the locations, types of losses in the process of drying. The calculation of heat consumption is based on the First Law of thermodynamics and it gives quantitative information about the energy used during drying. It does not include the issue of the quality of energy used in drying. This issue is evaluated on the basis of exergy analysis.
