Paper presents an overview of ornamental woody plants basic properties in urban green spaces which are used primarily by persons with special needs. Theoretical presentation has been tested in a piol that included children of two specialised schools in Belgrade, as well as several interviews with individual adult disabeled persons. It has been concluded that landscape architecs of Serbia should be much more aware of persons with special needs. They must understand their problems and be prepared to ever more directly included them in all activities regarding improvement of urban green spaces functionality in this sense.
