The effect of NPK fertilizer use and planting density on the grain yield of maize was investigated. The research was conducted on a maize hybrid Zenit, three planting densities (22.5 cm, 26 cm, and 30 cm) with the achieved plant arrangement of 63 492, 54 945 and 47 619 plants/ha respectively, and the use of six different ways of fertilizing. Phosphorus and potassium were used in every combination (except control) in the fall in amount of 60 kg/ha. Nitrogen was also used in every combination (except control) in the amount of 120 kg/ha, but was used on a different schedule (spring 100%, fall 30% + spring 70%, fall 50% + spring 50%, fall 70% + spring 30%, fall 100% respectively. The research showed the greatest grain in 14% humidity was achieved with the greatest planting density (22.5 cm), that is the achieved arrangement of 63 492 plants/ha and where the fertilizer was used 70% in the fall and 30% in the spring. The same result was obtained while measuring the yield of fresh corn crib (t/ha) as well as the yield of fresh cob, while the yield of dry cob (t/ha) was the greatest with the nitrogen use of 30% in the fall and 70% in the spring and the greatest planting density. The presence of dry substance in the kernel (%) and the kernel participation in the cob yield (%) were also achieved with the greatest planting density, but where the nitrogen fertilizer was used in its entire amount in the spring.
