Apiognomonia venete is frequent and economically important plane trees pathogen in the Republic of Serbia. In favourable environmental condition pathogen causes leaves and shoots blight as well as twings and branches dieback. In this paper the literature data concerning the symptoms of the disease and morphology, biology, ecology, taxonomy, nomenclature and control of pathogen are discussed.
