Our study represents the first evaluation of tGSG, GSH, and GSSG concentrations, and GSH RI values in the investigated tissue (liver and abdominal muscle) of barbel (Barbus barbus) and its intestinal parasite Pomphorhynchus laevis collected from Danube river, Serbia. The obtained results indicate significant influence of tissue-specifity on the cellular glutathione redox status of this fish. It is especially important to emphasize that the present study was performed on the intestinal parasite Pomphorhynchus laevis, which according to published data is very useful in studies involving biomonitoring of aquatic ecosystems.
