The effect of the growth regulator Krezatsin on potato yield and resistance to diseases was under study. The variety Nevskij was an object of field experiments on sod-podzols and laboratory tests in the Moscow Region. The tubers were treated before planting and storage (30 l per 1 ton of tubers) and the plants were done before budding phase (400 l per ha). The tubers were stored during 8 months at 2-4 deg C. The application of Krezatsin at a rate of 40 and 60 mg/l increased tuber number and crop yield and the best way was to apply it during plant vegetation. Plant and tuber treatment inhibited tuber germination during storage in 3.6-6.0 and 9-12 times respectively, it decreased number of affected tubers in 4-8 times. Tuber resistance to late blight of potato raised during storage and it was estimated by 9 points at the beginning of storage and by 7-8 points at the end (the control was done by 5 points). Tuber tissues form more intensively phytoalexines, induced protective substances, that can explain the high effect of Krezatsin. For example, rishitin content was assayed during storage at artificial inoculation by P. infestans. It was higher in 2.0-3.5 times at the beginning and in 25 times at the end in compare with untreated plants. It is concluded that treatments with Krezatsin rise crop yield and simultaneously plant resistance to patogens.
