[Strawberry transplant production with programmed quality parameters]

The field experiments carried out in Michurinsk in 1998-2006 resulted in system approach to nursery management. It is based on innovation system of productive transplant production with programmed quality parameters. This system corresponds to the world analogs and it is adaptive to soil and climatic conditions and economical situation in Russia. The transplants possess quality indexes (morphological, physiological, productive) basically new for Russia. The main components of the new system are rapid production of virus-free and disease-free seedlings (cloning); plant production from unrooted stolon cuttings and plant production of multiple-jet seedlings; long-continued storage of seedlings during 6-9 months with 100% keeping quality. The application of this system allows 3-5 fold increase of strawberry productivity and extention of domestic market of fresh fruit with high level of antioxidants up to 3-12 months.
