Content of heavy metals in tissues of settled ducks wintering in the Moscow Region

The property of accumulation of heavy metals (HM) in bodies and feathers of ducks in the territory of Moscow and the Moscow region in water reservoirs with different degree of technogenic pollution was studied. The coefficients of biological absorption (BAC) of Pb, Hg and Cd for different parts of body were determined. The most polluted were water reservoirs in the Izmailovski Park (the nearness of roads) whose pollution with Pb and Cs exceeded their content in the water reservoirs of the Noginsk and Ruza regions 8 and 23 times, respectively, and the MAC of Cd in drinking water – 4 and 9 times. The content of HM being analyzed in muscular tissue (MT), internal organs (IO), feathers and digital tissues depended on the concentration of elements in reservoirs. The most polluted with HM were samples obtained from ducks in the Izmailovski Parkthe maximum content of Pb in digits of birds exceeded the minimum content more than 6 times, in flight and down feathers – 12 and 28 times, in bellies and livers – 24 and 8 times, respectively. The minimum Cd for livers exceeded 18 times, digits – 12, flight features – 5, down features and bellies – 2 and MT – 1.5 times. the low content of Hg in the reservoirs promoted its low accumulation in organs and tissues of ducks. Thus, accumulation of HM in organs and tissues of ducks depends on the degree of pollution with Pb, Cd and Hg of reservoirs. The organs and tissues of birds are greatly different in BAC of the same elements: IO, features and digits most absorb Pb, least – Cd. In the ducks wintering in the anthropogenic landscapes of Moscow and the Moscow region, pollution with Pb and Cd corresponds to that of game birds in other region of RF
