Dairy cows with high milk production demand nutritionally balanced ration, which is adjusted to their needs by the all nutrients. Efficiency of milk production depends not only on the amount of milk production and composition of milk, but also on the reproduction of the cattle and health status in the herd. The nutrition of dairy cows was supervised on the family farm with 36 dairy cows. Cows received winter ration all year around (hay and grass silage with brewers grains), which is supplemented with mineral-vitamin mixture and appropriate concentrate feed. In last years the average daily milk yield was rather good, around 22 kg milk per cow per day. High amount of the Ca in the grass silage (14.34 g/kg of dry matter) was one of the biggest problems at the time of the supervision of the nutrition in the herd. In addition the mineral-vitamin mixture was unsuitable. The result was increased amount of calcium in the ration and the consequence was the extend ration to phosphorus. Lower attained milk yield, low milk fat content, frequent reproductive disturbances in the herd and large number of culled cows because of fertilityproblems were expected results of deficiencies in the nutrition management.
