Small-plot nutritional field experiment was established in locality of Madunice ín 2007 and 2008 by block method. There was investigated the effect of nitrogen, sulphur and iron fertilizing on yield and content of flavonolds in 4 varieties of onion. The highest yield of onion was achieved with red variety of Robin (33.5 t per ha), which was fertilized with nitrogen and sulphur. On the contrary the lowest yield of onion was achieved with white variety of Pueblo (22.86 t per ha) in control variant. Positive effect of fertilization on increasing flavonoid content was found out in varieties Kamal and Robin. Red variety of Robin achieved the highest values of total flavonolds under nitrogen fertilization (353.0 mg/kg fresh matter) in comparison with other investigated varieties of onion.
