The aim of the thesis is to evaluate development of the plant production marketing in Slovakia for the period from 2003 to 2008. The most important and the most growing plants on arable land in Slovakia are: wheat, maize, oil rape and sunflower. In observing of plant area development in Slovakia for the period 2003-2008 are characterized same trends as in countries of the EU-27. In comparison of the hectare harvets in Slovakia and in the EU follows that Slovakia achieved higher hectere harvests in rye, barley, grains of maize and sunflower in 2008. Other observed plants achieved lowe hectare harvests. Expected development of plant production till 2010 in the Slovak Republic will be characterized by increasing of resolution and requirements for the food quality and food safety. It is assumed that fruit and vegetable consumption decresing will stop and consumption of these commodities will increase. It will continue decreasing of cereals consumption. The future of food consumption will depend on wide sphere of other factors as age, education, rural areas, city, cultural values and others.
