This experiment studied effects of iron, zinc and pineapple peel application on yield of sweet corn grown on a calcareous soil, Takhli series, which was rather low in available zinc and very low in available iron. The investigation was carried out in a greenhouse. A completely randomized design with 3 replications was used. The treatments consisted of without fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, zinc in combination with NPK fertilizer, iron in the form of ferrous ammonium sulfate (Fe(NH4)2(SO4)2.6H2O) and in the form of iron DTPA (FeDTPA) in combination with zinc and NPK fertilizer and pineapple peel at the rate of 6 and 9 g/kg soil in combination with NPK fertilizer. The results showed that growth and yield of sweet corn grown on the soil without fertilizer were the lowest. Yield of sweet corn grown on the soil amended with zinc in combination with NPK fertilizer trended to be higher than those of sweet corn grown on the soil amended with only NPK fertilizer. Application of iron in the form of Fe(NH4)2(SO4)2.6H2O and FeDTPA in combination with zinc and NPK fertilizer and application of pineapple peel at the rate of 6 g/kg in combination with NPK fertilizer significantly increased growth yield, iron uptake and zinc uptake of sweet corn as compare with only NPK fertilizer application.
