To improve table tomato for heat tolerance, the F11 population derived from the crossing of CL5915-93 x Sidathip 3 were selected and screened by pedigree method. Growth characteristics and content of chemicals compounds were used for selecting for heat tolerance in tomato hybrid lines. Field trial and laboratory work were done at Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang during November 2007 to March 2008 with average temperatures of 33 and 23 degree celsius at daytime and nighttime, respectively. The season had temperature at day and night higher than the optimum temperature 26/22.5 (day/night) for tomato production. The results showed that 4 breeding lines of the F11 populationCL.S-51-39-35-32 plant No.9 CL.S-51-17-16-28 plant No.18 CL.S-51-4-8-9 plant No.32 and CL.S-51-15-53-23 plant No.19 were selected due to high yielding (more than 2.6 kg/plant), high percentage of fruit setting and contain high amount of sugar, citric acid and ascorbic acid, therefore, will be used in the next generation study.
