This study examined the determination of direct use value of forest resources in the upper part of Mae Sa Watershed Area, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province, as well as, factors affecting the forest resource utilization using path analysis. The study showed that the average net value of forest resource utilization was about 1,658.55 baht per household per year. The net value for Thai was 2,150.01 baht per household per year and those for the Hmong was 718.74 baht per household per year. The net value of forest resource utilization for Mae Sa Watershed was 2,215,822.80 baht per household per year. Moreover, the Thai's household expense directly affected the forest resource utilization. While education directly affected Hmong's forest resource utilization.
