Novel mechanism of bacterial antagonist to suppress soybean bacterial pustule pathogen | กลไกใหม่ของเชื้อแบคทีเรียปฏิปักษ์ในการยับยั้งเชื้อสาเหตุโรคใบจุดนูนถั่วเหลือง

Efficacy of bacterial antagonist strains Bacillus amyloliquefaciens KPS46, Paenibacillus pabuli SW01/4, Pseudomonas fluorescens SP007s and Serratia marcescens Spt360 to inhibit biofilm formation important for pathogenicity of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines (Xag) caused soybean bacterial pustule, was evaluated by crystal violet assay using their cell free culture filtrates. The result revealed that Spt360 and KPS46 filtrates at 70 percent concentration was the most effective to significantly suppress biofilm formation of Xag at 0.78 OD590 at adhesion and biofilm development stages respectively (P LT=0.05). Moreover, KPS46 at 0.2 OD600 exhibited high efficacy to produce protease with 4.63 mm diameter of protein degradation on plate assay that correlated with its previous biofilm reduction of Xag. In greenhouse experiment, the result of KPS46-Xag coinoculation on soybean leaves was the greatest potential with 57.17 percent reduction of bacterial pustule severity, whereas nontreated control exhibited highest disease severity of 94 percent. This study reports for the first time the novel mechanism of these bacterial antagonists to control soybean bacterial pustule upon inhibited biofilm formation of the pathogen.
