The study aimed of the at assessing both productivity and stability of durum wheat varieties grain yield on the background of different rates of nitrogen fertilization and environmental conditions. For the purpose, the results of a long-term field trail carried out during the 1998-2008 period at the Institute of Cotton and Durum Wheat, Chirpan were analyzed. In the present study four durum wheat varieties are included: Zagorka, Progres, Beloslava, Vazhod, grown at four different nitrogen rates: N0, N80, N120 and N160. It was established that the 11-years average grain yield was 4267 kg/ha. It varied from 2538.1 kg/ha in 2007 to 5820.6 kg/ha in 2001. The average yield by varieties was from 4158.4 kg/ha Zagorka to 4337.4 kg/ha Vazhod. The Progres and Beloslava varieties were clearly more stable. The N fertilization increased grain yield from 3188.6 kg/ha at N0 to 4930.4 kg/ha at N160.
