This study was carried out to: (1)assess the distribution and relative importance of bacterial wilt disease on enset and banana in Ethiopia. (2)to determine the variabiligy among the diverse geographical isolates of enset and banana bacterial wilt pathogen (Xanthomonas camperstris pv. musacearum ) using phenotypic and genetic characterization (Molecular methods).therefore,a total of 124 enset and banana bacterial wilt samples were collected from principal enset and banana growing areas of the country and characterized biochemically.the use of semi-selective media like Cellobiose-Cephalexin Agar (CCA) is found to be useful identification tool for enset as well as banana bacterial wilt disease and should be encouraged to use in the future identification works.
