Mistletoes (family Loranthaceae) parasItize a wide range of trees and shrubs in Ghana. On cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.), mistletoe infestation is of considerable economic importance because of the direct effect of reducing yield and me indirect effect of contributing to the general degeneration of trees on farms. This paper reviews the incidence of mistletoe on cocoa in Ghana and, draws further attention to this serious and destructive parasite. A comprehensive list of host plants of the parasite is given.
