Maize and okra were grown in pure and mixed stands at three sites in south-western Nigeria. The yields of the sole. crops were higher than those in mixtures. The reduction in yield as a result of mixed cropping was more drastic in okra than in maize. Input/output analysis showed that it was more profitable to grow the two crops together than either separately. Original scientific paper. Received I I Mar 85; revised 5 Aug 86.
