Molecular marker linked to a stripe resistance gene (Stvb-i) is used for the selection of rice stripe-resistant individuals in the rice-breeding program at Aichi Agricultural Research Center. Generally, many of molecular markers are developed on the basis of PCR technique. PCR needs expensive machinery such as thermal cycler and special chemical materials such as Taq polymerase. We tried to improve the marker assisted selection of rice stripe resistance to be cheaper and simpler by using Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) instead of PCR technique. The extraction method of template DNA suitable for LAMP reaction was also examined. A simple selection method for rice-breeding was newly developed.
