Pot and field experiments were carried out to investigate the competitiveness of three Rhizobium leguminosarum strains from the collection of Latvia University of Agriculture. The obtained results showed that all rhizobium strains were active and inoculated plants formed nodules on the roots. No significant differences between experiments were observed. There was negative correlation between Rhizobium occupancy and organic matter content in the soil. The effectiveness of occupancy depends on field beans variety. The most aggressive of the evaluated strains was strain No 408.
