This spring (2010) increased attention should be paid to winter crops and fruit trees. The climatic condition in regions of Latvia was different in autumn, because, in several territories of Latgale, crops had to suffer black frost, elsewhere excessive humidity, therefore health condition and plant development stages of winter crops are various. The article describes the distribution and control of diseases (mildew, gray snow mould (Typhula blight) caused by Typhula itoan and root rot) and weeds in winter and spring crops (wheat, oilseed rape), as well as diseases and pests in potatoes (black scab) and orchards (fruit tree canker, apple scab and pest insects).
