2009

Rice farmers of Napoles, Bago City and Negros Occidental had the difficulty in achieving high yield before. When the PalayCheck was introduced to them, they achieved higher yield compared to their previous yield. Fifteen farmer-members of Partnership in Agricultural and Rural Transformation (PART) of Bago City actively participated in the season-long PalayCheck Field School implemented by PhilRice Negros during the 2008 WS. Conchita Dermido volunteered as the farmer partner. Yield after the training ranged from 3.5-6.6 t/ha depending on the number of Key Checks followed. Participants realized that the more Key Checks followed, the higher the yield. Profitability was also increased due to lower production costs.
