Correlation and heritability estimates in mutant and parent wheat genotypes (Triticum aestivum L.)
2008
Majeedano, Z.A.
The present research was conducted to determine the correlation and heritability estimates in Mutants and their parent of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes, for various quantitative traits viz. Plant height, number of fertile tillers per plant, spike length, number of spikelets per spike, number of grains per spike, seed index and grain yield per plant. The experimental trial was carried out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications during Rabi season 2005-2006. All the traits differed significantly at P less than or equal to 0.01 level M.C-591 gave maximum number of fertile tillers per plant (46.66) and minimum spike length (5.36cria), number of spikelets per spike (18.86) and number of grains per spike (46.36) among the varieties. Nevertheless mutant of Nayab showed maximum plant height (89.48 cm), spike length (12.89cm), minimum number of tillers per plant (9.10), seed index (27.93 g) and grain yield (835.058).
