Effect of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer application period on cotton varieties

The study was carried out to investigation the effect of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer application periods on cotton varieties during 2007. The treatments included all nitrogen after 28 days of sowing, all nitrogen into two equal splits 28 and 49 days of and all nitrogen into 3 equal splits 28, 49 and 70 days of sowing. Cotton varieties tested were Haridost, Sindh-1 and TH-2/2000. The parameter of studied were plant population, plant height (cm) number of monopodia per plant, number of sympodia per plant, number of bolls per plant, Ginning out turn %, staple length (mm), seed cotton yield per plot and seed cotton yield kg per ha. Results revealed that maximum plant population obtained from F2 variety TH-2/2000 produced maximum plant population 55.88. Maximum plant height 131.77cm was recorded from F3, variety TH-2/2000 produced taller plant 140.22 cm then other varieties.
