Anti-fungal activity of different solvent extracts of medicinal plants Capparis decidua Edgew and Salvadora persica Linn. against different parasitic fungi

Ethanol, methanol, ethyl acetate, chloroform and aqueous extract were obtained from the medicinal plants, Capparis decidua and Salvadora persica. These extracts were tested against different parasitic fungi, Aspergillus niger, A. flavus, Paecilomyces varioti, Microsporum gypsum, and Trichophyton rubrum. All crude extracts were found to be effective against test organisms. Ethanol, methanol and aqueous extracts appeared to be most effective antifungal agents as compared to chloroform and ethyl acetate extracts. Moreover, in present study some elements, Al, Ca, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, P, S and Zn were also determined from the medicinal plants by using atomic absorption spectrophotometry and U.V. spectrophotometry. The medicinal plants Capparis decidua and Salvadora persica contained considerable amount of elements, which have antifungal effects on different parasitic fungi causing skin diseases.
