The observations were made in early December each experimental year and the studies covered the ewes aged from 11 months up to 6 years. Totally 127 ewes from two groups (stabling and pasture) were monitored. The stabling group was kept in a sheep house with an easy access to the exercise area all year-round, while the pasture group was kept outside year-round with accessible run-in sheds. The ewes maintained in the pastures system were characterized by a higher ovulation rate (1.94) as compared to those kept in a stabling (1.81), yet the results obtained proved insignificant statistically. The highest ovulation rate was recorded for the ewes aged 4 years (2.11), whereas the lowest - 11 months (1.22). The pasture maintenance system had a beneficial effect on the ovulation rate obtained. A high ovulation level obtained proves the appropriate adaptability of the Polish Lowland sheep Uhruska variety to the varied maintenance conditions
