General characteristics of peat soils of mountain mesotrophic low sedge fens

The work characterized mezotrophic low sedge peat soils and discussed the influence of physiografic conditions including the type of substratum and oxygenation of water feeding them on these soils. Soil propertes of the analysed fens were strictly connected with water presence in their soil profile. The thickness of peat horizons and degree of peat decomposition depended on the land slope and water oxygenation. Physical and chemical properties of the studied fen soils were connected with mineralization of fen feeding water and the type of substratum on which they were formed
