Heavy metals in soils along traffic arteries of Olsztyn [Poland]
2008
Bieniek, A. | Bieniek, B.,Uniwersytet Warminsko-Mazurski, Olsztyn (Poland). Katedra Gleboznawstwa i Ochrony Gleb
The results showed that the soils in Olsztyn (Poland) contain the largest levels of total Pb, Zn, much less Cu, Ni and Cr and the lowest levels of Cd. The content of Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd in surface horizons of soils (A) is usually 2-4 times higher, with the same relationship concerning Cr and Ni in subsurface horizons (Bbr, C). In relation to the geochemical background of soils in Poland, these are natural values for Cd and Cr, slightly higher for Ni and Cu, but with over twice as much Zn, and nearly 10 times as much Pb. Measured contents of metals are found irregularly in Olsztyn soils
