From the beginning of fish cultivation, diseases have appeared as a serious problem in this branch of agriculture. In recent years, by the intensifying of production and international transfer of live fish and gametes, fish diseases have become even more significant and complex field. During ten year research, bacterial and viral fish diseases were diagnosed in different trout and carp farming regions in the Republic of Serbia. In this paper most frequently detected diseases are presented: yersiniosis, furunculosis, erythrodermatitis, and also outbreaks of new diseases - epizootic hematopoietic necrosis (EHN), KHV disease, bacterial kidney disease, red mark syndrome (RMS), Janthinobacterium lividum infection of rainbow trout - diagnosed at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of Serbia in Belgrade.
