During 2009, we studied coccinellid communities in different stand types in the study area Stara Planina and Kopaonik (Serbia). Coniferous and mixed coniferous-broad leaved forests such as spruce-beech were the most dominant type. Fir-spruce and larch or pine forests were dominated in the belt of high mountain plants, presented by the sub-alpine climate conditions. As a result of our investigation, two species of aphidophagous coccinellids were added to the list of ladybird fauna of Serbia. The striped ladybird (Myzia oblongoguttata) was registered at 1000 m altitude in the study area Stara Planina, while the ladybird (Aphidecta obliterata) was found at the same site Stara Planina and at 1400 m altitude in the study area Kopaonik.
