The functions of plants in the oral wedding songs from Svrljig region (Eastern Serbia) have been shown in this paper. The function can be informative, mythical, esthetical and poetical and it is based on beliefs and tradition on the one hand and on the other hand, on the look and qualities of plants (color, taste, smell).
