Pea grain yield is a quantitative character affected by many genetic and environmental factors. The trial was carried out during the period of 2007-2009 at the Research Institute of Forage Crops, Pleven, Bulgaria, including 7 spring field pea lines. The line L-12AB had the greatest average values of both plant height and first pod height. The largest 1000 grain mass was in the line L-460-16 (273.33 g). The winter cultivars had the longest growing season (239 days). The highest seed weight per plant was in the line L-12AC (8.54 g), while the highest seed yield was in the line L-12AB (2970 kg/ha). Seed weight per plant was in the highest positive correlation with both number of pods per plant and number of fertile nodes per plant. The highest positive correlation was between plant height and growing season.
