An attempt was taken to increase the content of antioxidants and selenium in potato tubers by selecting varieties and developing a technology enriching potato in these substances in the process of growth. The field experiments were carried out in the Moscow region. Potato was grown from micro-tubers in containers comprising biohumus enriched in selenium in the form of sodium selenate, as well as microelements. Due to the used technology the content of antioxidants in potato tubers of varieties Yubilej Zhokova, Udacha, Golubizna increased 2-4 times, selenium – 2.5-2.8 times, zinc, iron, magnesium – 1.3-1.5 times. When consuming 100-200 g of such tubers a man is capable of providing the daily need in antioxidant about half or 2/3. As selenium is capable of accumulating also in the protein part of tuber, its content in products can be increased by selecting varieties with high protein content. The developed technology allows potentially enriching potato tubers in not only selenium but also other microelements
