2009
El-Raiah, A.E.
The experiments were carried out during two seasons 2006-07, 2007-08 to evaluate ten Dutch, potato varieties namely; Agria, Elpaso, Picasso, Matador, Zafria, Kuroda, Virgo, Alert, Maranca and Diamant in terms of yield, storability and consumer acceptance. Randomized complete block design and completely Randomized design were used in these experiments. The results revealed significant difference in total and marketable tuber yield (tons/ha). Varieties Zafira and matador produced the highest total and marketable tuber yield during the two seasons, because it produced higher tuber weight per plant. Also it, emergence was earlier and gave higher soil cover, plant and tuber fresh weight and number of plants/m2.While varieties Elpaso and Maranca produced the lowest total and marketable tuber yield (tons/ha). Variety Kuroda had significantly higher tuber dry matter content and Maranca gave the lowest peeling ratio. All cultivars tested showed significantly lower difference in total loss and rot loss compared with Matador. Varieties Virgo and Elpaso scored significantly lower tuber sprout while Diamant scored the highest tuber sprouting. Variety Virgo was the most acceptable in terms or colour, shape, firmness and general acceptance by consumer
