On the basis of somatic cell count (SCC) analyses of milk samples at regular milk recordings in Slovenia it was found out that the problem of high SCC has not improved yet. More than 21% of milk samples have over 400 000 SC/ml. At 52.7% of cows with high index of somatic cells (ISC), the situation at the next milk recording has not changed. In 2009, about 18% of herds had more than a six month average SCC equal or greater to 400 000. According to the model we observed significant oscillation of SCC between years, with moderate worsening in summer time and influence of parity on SCC (P 0.05). Black and white and brown breeds have significantly greater number of SCC than cows of Simmental breed. It was observed that protein supply could be one of the reasons which influence the SCC. Enlargement of urea in milk samples induced lower SCC and, at the same time, narrow proportion between fat and protein induced higher SCC, which means that feed structure is also one of the important factors influencing the SCC in milk.
