Soil as integral part of environment has to be protected. At present time this aspiration has at rising importance. Targeted protection of soil is included directly also in European Soil Framework Directive which is in negotiation process and has to be approved by European Council and European Parliament. High importance has already public awareness rising in connection to soil protection as natural resource. From this point of view soil is defined in directive as non-renewable natural resource. Reason for this is long lasting recovery process of functions of degraded soil which might last several decades and some soil functions would be never recovered to the original state. Public and especially young generation must be informed in appropriate way about soil importance for the existence of life on the Earth.
