Evaluation of mechanical properties of packaging materials under external influences is presented in this paper. Basic mechanical properties of packaging materials (tensile stress, load force, modulus of elasticity and specific elongation) were assessed. Static and dynamic friction of packaging material as well as impact resistance was evaluated in described experiments. The highest modulus of the elasticity (3,394.84—41,933.33 MPa) and tension stress were obtained in the case of cross force direction. Coefficient of friction has determining role in the setting of the friction force between shifting and guiding cylinders in the packing machines. Measured values of static and dynamic coefficient of friction determine the size of the pressure force on the packaging material. Furthermore impact resistance of the two materials was analyzed. Experiments showed that the force of 7.07 and 8.21 N and the energy of 4.641 and 5.380 J are needed in order to penetrate the two materials. The obtained results and conclusions can be used in wider area what is further motivation in the study of the similar problems.
