2009
Pham Van Chuong
The property of multi-layers composite made from bamboo and wood depends on the mechanical strength of bamboo and wood, the structural arrangement of each element, and the interaction between component materials. Therefore, to make the multi-layers composite from bamboo and wood, have to need to know about the origin and properties of each component material. In this study, Dendrocalamus membranaceus and Styrax tonkinensis Pierre wood were used to make composite using the Phenol-Formaldehyde (P-F) adhesive. Based on the technological characteristics of raw materials, the main technological parameters to make the composites were determined such as: moisture content of raw material, adhesive amount and pressing conditions. The multi-layers composite is meet the requirements of Chinese standard GB/T 13123-2003; LY/T 1573-2000 for construction uses. The main properties of the composites are as follow: density of 0.87 g/cm3, moisture content 8.36%, modulus of rupture (in dry condition) 135.11 MPa, modulus of rupture (in wet condition) 103.27 MPa, modulus of elasticity (in dry condition) 14,457.08 MPa, modulus of elasticity (in wet condition) 12,524.74MPa, the resistance to delamination 5.86%.
