The effect of sowing date on density dynamics and damage degree of Oscinella frit larvae on barley Veslec and Obzor varieties were evaluated at the Plant Protection Institute in Kostinbrod from 2006 to 2009. It was established that Veslec is more susceptible to damages, caused by larvae compared with Obzor. The degree of damages on Veslec is higher when sowing is made at the beginning of the second decade of October compared with sowing in the last decade of September, but the differences are not significant at P 0,05. The degree of damages in Obzor is lower when sowing is made in autumn compared with sowing at the end of February. O. frit larvae are least destructive in Obzor sown in the last decade of September and at the beginning of October.
