The main goal of the present study was to establish the status and sowing qualities of the cabbage seed from different position on the mother plant. The investigation was carried out with cabbage seeds from branches of I and II layers and from the central stem of Balkan and Ditmarsko ranno varieties. The productivity formation of one plant, the morphology of seeds, weight of 1000 seeds, germination energy, germinability, MGT, simultaneity of germination, fresh weight of sprouts, length of embryo root and hypocotyls, vigour index, content of dry matter, crude protein, sugar and oil and basic calorific value. Seed heterogeneity in cabbage seeds is high. The best sowing quality was established for seed formed in the upper parts of the plant, i.e. - for Balkan from central stem and for Ditmarsko ranno from II layer. It is advizable to extract the seed from cabbage separately in different samples with different quality.
