The investigation was conducted during the period 2007-2009 in the scion-cultivar trial created in 1999 at the Institute of Agriculturе – Kyustendil. The influence of six different rootstocks the vegetative propagated Hybrid 2, Karamy, P-7 and SL-64st and the seedlings of Vladimirska vishna and Mahaleb 20-86 on the content of the basic macro elements N, P, Ca and Mg in the leaves of the Van sweet cherry cultivar was studied. The results obtained showed that the studied rootstocks ensure an optimal, often higher security of the leaves with these nutrient elements, which is a symptom for a good biological adhesion between the grafted components and for their free transition from the rootstock to scion. A trend for better utilisation of the phosphorus from Vladimirska vishna and P-7 and for less from Hybrid 2 than the other rootstocks was established. The impact of the rootstock in the absorption of calcium and magnesium from the soil is better expressed, in comparison with that of nitrogen and phosphorus. The accumulation of calcium and magnesium in the leaves is stimulated the most of Karamy, followed by Hybrid 2 and Mahaleb 20-86. Rootstock P-7 is showed trend for the low utilisation of these elements.
