There have been investigated four American thornless blackberry varieties - Hull Thornless, Dirksen Thornless, Black Satin and Thornfree. The investigation was aimed at selection of the most appropriate varieties to grow in our certain climatic conditions on the basis of analysis of main traits and abilities. In the certain climatic and soil conditions the investigated varieties did not fully reveal their abilities on the yield and average weight of fruits. Black Satin 2.501 kg/bush and Dirksen Thornless turned out to have prospects of important yield abilities in contrast to Hull Thornless 1.507 kg/bush which had the lowest indications. The average weight of fruits varied slightly from 3.33 g Thornfree to 4.63 g Hull Thornless. Only Hull Thornless grew fruits close to the average fruit weight. Hull Thornless, Dirksen Thornless and Black Satin 222.7 - 253.5 cm grew long shoots while Thornfree 217.4 cm grew shoots of medium length. As for shoot diameter there were not registered any important differences between the varieties. The results obtained under this investigation allowed us to propose Black satin and Dirksen Thornless as varieties appropriate for growing in warmer and more humid micro-regions.
