Study of the chemical composition of grain and straw of cereals (barley (Hordeum vulgare), wheat (Triticum aestivum), triticale (Triticum), oats (Avena sativa) and millet (Panicum miliaceum)) at the phase of full crop ripeness was realized in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus. Special attention as given to crude protein content in the developing products and its dependence on the sowing terms, In the conditions of late sowing terms there was stated the decrease of crude protein content and other analysed parameters, especially at the phase of kernel formation. In case of the shifting of the optimal sowing terms to the late ones there was noted that millet grain yield had the same indexes as the early spring crops. However, in the conditions of sowing at the first decade of May there was obtained the millet grain yield which was on 3,2-7,3 c/ha or even 6,2-14,2 c/ha higher then the same yielding indexes of spring oat, barley, triticale and wheat. Millet straw was characterized by high crude protein content, as well as the ratio of digestible protein and sugar in comparison with the other analysed crops that could prove the expediency of its use as rough feed
