As a result of a comparative characteristic by a complex of agronomic characters of two millet (Panicum miliaceum) varieties differed by grain size it was revealed that the small-sized Galinka variety showed higher (by 17,1%) field germination due to which its yield was higher on 15,8% or 4,3 c/ha than the large-seeded variety Druzhba 2. These varieties were selected by the Scientific and Practical Center for Arable Farming of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. However, it was distinguished by high variation of panicle length that rendered negative effect on the yield stability for years. The advantages of the large-seeded variety were high thousand-kernel weight (8,5 g) and panicle productivity (3,7 g) that was by 0,6 g or 19,2% higher than in the small-seeded variety. Druzhba 2 was characterized by higher plant height stability depending on weather conditions in comparison with the small-seeded variety; height variability was in three times lower and made up 9,7% that improved resistance to lodging in the years with higher precipitation quantity.
