In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was studied the initial material of garden radish (Raphanus sativus) for breeding and selection of early ripening high yielding varieties and hybrids of garden radish with high commercial qualities of root crops resistant to premature seeding and the most dangerous diseases. For the first time there was realized a morphological description of collection samples of garden radish and there was made their grouping in according with variety types. As a result of the study there were distinguished genetic sourves for garden radish breeding: for early ripening and yielding capacity (Smachny; Sofit; Koroleva; Margo); for resistance to premature seeding (Variant; Saksa); for the content of ascorbic acid (Rozovo-krasnyj s belym konchikom; Polyanka); for the decreased content of nitrates (Teplichnyj Gribovskij). By means of intervarietal hybridization there were created perspective lines 9/04; 15/04; (Koroleva Margo x Polyanka); 1/04; 20/05 (Teplichnyj Gribovskij x Polyanka); 18/04 (Smacny x Polyanka).
