Forecasting productivity of young cattle, fattened by silage rations, according to the concentration of exchangeable energy in dry matter | Прогнозирование продуктивности молодняка крупного рогатого скота, откармливаемого на силосных рационах, по концентрации обменной энергии в сухом веществе

One of the main criteria of efficiency of rations for farm animals is the indicator of concentration of exchangeable energy in dry matter. It depends on the quality of used fodder and the level of planned productivity. In the Republic of Belarus maize (Zea mays) silage amounts up to 45-55% of the structure of cattle rations. Its quality significantly influences profitability because it directly influences the need for expensive concentrates. On the basis of experimental data there was suggested a mathematical mechanism for forecasting the speed of growth of young cattle, taking into account the concentration of exchangeable energy in dry matter. In practice it helped to calculate correctly the specific share of grain group depending on the quality of bulky fodder. Increasing of concentration of exchangeable energy in silage rations of fattening young cattle up to the level of 9.7 mJ of dry matter provided the increasing of average daily live weight gain from 836 up to 911 grams. The further increasing of concentration of exchangeable energy did not lead to significant increasing of growth rate.
