This study was conducted to evaluate and enhance composting process of date palm residues (DPR) by introducing different ligno-cellulolytic microorganisms. The four used microorganisms were; Aspergillus niger (AUSB-27401), Aspergillus subsessilis (AUSB-27402),Thermomyces lanuginosus Tsikl (AUSB-271103) and Bacillus sp.(AUSB-271104). All treatments accelerated composting process and the best was that contained the four species in mix. After one week, heap temperature reached to thermophilic phase (45¢ªC) reflecting rapid initiation of composting process. This remark was confirmed by decreasing of pH after two weeks then, increased to reach maximum value (9.0-9.5). Values of electrical conductivity (EC) fluctuated in most treatments until the end of the experiment. The N, P and K values increased regularly in all treatments within 6 weeks then decreased in the 8th week except in treatment with farmyard manure (FYM) and chicken manure only. The degradation of organic matter (OM) was rapid in the inoculated treatments with the tested microorganisms than in treatment with FYM and chicken manure only. Reduction in C/N ratio (12.99) after 6 weeks is a good indication for complete decomposition of DPR. This study revealed the acceleration and enrichment of compost process of DPR in an ideal period (about one month).
