. Tolerance was relatively determined in barley varieties against leaf rust by estimating the correlation between disease variables i.e. final rust severity (%), area under disease progress curve and four yield components (weight of grain/spike, 1000 grain weight, biological yield and yield/plot). Different levels of infection were obtained by foliar spray with the systemic fungicide (Saprol). The reductions due to the different levels of infection were assessed over the two years. The cvs. Giza 2000 and Giza 123 were superior compared to other varieties as they showed high levels of tolerance, which characterized by the lower values of final rust severity (%) and smaller estimates of area under disease progress curve with highest yield components. The low effect of barley leaf rust infection on cv. Giza 2000 due to its tolerance as there were no significant differences between the two disease variables and weight of 1000 grain yield, biological yield and yield /plot. These data can help in selecting tolerant commercial barley varieties in different hot spots of rust infection.)
